WATER
TYPICAL WATER USE AT HOME
WATER RELATED PROJECT IDEAS
1. Conduct a water audit at your school to identify ways that water is used and any possible water saving strategies and recommendations.
2. Implement a water saving strategy at your home for one week. Document the process and report your challenges and successes. Then convince another family to do the same thing. Compare your experiences. Did you or the other family make any permanent lifestyle changes (like fix a leak, install low-flow shower heads, or low-flow toilets)? If so, explain.
3. Create interpretive signage about water conservation and display them around the school to raise awareness and to encourage water savings. These will be permanently displayed at NMS. Once designed and approved by teacher and Mr. Webster, the interactive signage can be order via NMS print shop. Below is a website with great ideas for designing an interpretive sign.

4. Design and create a water efficient school, home, or public space garden that includes local, drought tolerant plants to suit the local environment and climatic conditions. Talk to a local plant expert for advice on appropriate plants. Create small plant markers with the names of the plants.
5. Create 6 “news brief” educating people about water conservation in the home. Distribute these in the school e-newsletter (if in print) or via Bobcat News (if video).
6. Correct an erosion or drainage problem at your home, school, or other approved location.
